It was an up and down weekend at Peterborough Showground for round 2. I had good results and lots of fun in the heat races when the conditions suited me, taking two 1st’s & a 2nd both days. In Saturday’s final I qualified 1st from the heats, but by then the track had dried out too much for me and I had nothing for them, I finished 4th. Before Sunday’s final I went to turn the rear wheel around and change gearing and my special hub tool broke so I had to stick with what I had, I finished 4th again. Got to hand it to the Americans though they were on it, with their experience they’re great at adjusting to whatever conditions and bikes and running close. I think that with adjusting my riding style and gearing choices a little to suit my tarmac riding, I’ve spoilt myself with all the grip and now unless it’s good and grippy it doesn’t do anything for me. Some valuable lessons learnt and will come back stronger. Had a blast when the track was good and enjoyed wheelying round to entertain the crowd / show off, and appreciated the cheers. There was a big crash in the hooligan race and so best wishes to those riders!
